"An
associate member of Das Fleckvieh Gruppen, Dr. Gary Briers, a Professor in
the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication,
College of Agriculture, Texas A&M University, is on a five month assignment
with the Department of Defense in Iraq. He is assigned to "TEAM BORLAUG",
whose charge is to review agricultural practices in four Iraq provinces
south of Baghdad and make and help implement recommendations to improve
these practices. Dr. Briers is one of 10 members of the team and is the
team's specialist for extension education and livestock production/animal
health. Dr. Briers reports that the Iraq people from the governor of the
province to the poor Shia farmers have been gracious hosts and are committed
to improving their agricultural industry." |
